George Fowler
George Fowler is a professional emcee, and a world-class drag performer, and a rainbow
diversity consultant, based in Tāmaki Makaurau. As his alter-ego Hugo Grrrl, he won House of
Drag Season 1, making him the first drag king and transgender man globally to compete in and
win a televised drag competition. He won an Absolutely Positively Wellingtonian Award in 2020,
Best Producer, Best MC and Outstanding Achievement at The Wellington Comedy Awards 2018
and was nominated for Wellingtonian of The Year in 2018. He has featured on The Project, TV3’s
Breakfast, Seven Sharp and Glow Up NZ as a guest judge. As a regular feature writer on rainbow
issues, he has written for Sunday Magazine and Express Magazine. He has been the emcee of
the NEFF live cooking theatre of The Food Show across New Zealand since 2018.
