Billie Jordan

Billie Jordan is a motivational speaker and the founder of The Hip Hop-eration Crew, a unique and inspiring hip-hop dance group comprised of senior citizens.

Her journey began following an abusive childhood and the traumatic experience of the 2011 Christchurch Earthquake. These challenging experiences became the catalyst for Billie to bring joy and purpose to the lives of elderly people in her community on Waiheke Island, New Zealand.

The Hip Hop-eration Crew, consisting of members aged 65 to 98 years old, is recognised in the Guinness World Records as the oldest dance group in the world. The group has performed at significant events, including the World Hip Hop Championships in Las Vegas and to large audiences in Taiwan and Japan. The story of Billie and her dance crew has been encapsulated in an award-winning feature documentary film titled "Hip Hop-eration" and has garnered global attention, with Hollywood planning to adapt her story into a movie.

Billie's work extends beyond dance. She is a recipient of a Queen's Honour (MNZM) and has been recognised as New Zealand Woman of the Year (2016/2017) and New Zealander of the Year in the Local Hero category (2015). Her compelling personal story, combined with her leadership skills and determination to challenge norms, has made her a sought-after speaker globally. Billie's presentations, including her TED Talk, are celebrated for their authenticity, vulnerability, courage, and humour.
