Mary is an award winning journalist, broadcaster, communications strategist, media consultant and writer. She is the founder of Socius Media Ltd - a boutique communications/ writing/ media company.

Prior to forming her own communications and media company, Mary was a journalist and broadcaster and business owner. Mary's first jobs in journalism took her round NZ working as a journalist, radio host and newsreader. In 1991, Mary won a scholarship to Japan. For three years she taught English and was Radio New Zealand's Tokyo foreign correspondent.

On her return to NZ , Mary hosted the BBC World Service Business show and worked as a radio talkback host. She also worked on a series of TV documentaries for Communicado which led to joining the presenting team of the National Business Review television business programme.

At the beginning of 1997 Mary won the coveted role of host of TV One’s Good Morning programme. In 2000/ 2001, she presented the popular “Money Doctor” show. Mary returned to Newstalk ZB in 2003 as Leighton Smith’s fill in, as well as continuing to host the Good Morning show until early 2004. Mary stepped down from Good Morning to focus on her very young family ( Grace DOB 2002, twins Jack and Elizabeth DOB 2004). Her husband is Radio New Zealand's The Panel host Jim Mora.
