MENTAL HEALTH SPEAKER
Resilience that enable solutions, practical, commonsense applications to the many and varied life influences are Grahams key areas of focus.
Assisting people to understand, in a matter of fact, clear way as a result the lived experience of Depression, PTSD and Suicide is a story to be shared.
20 years as a paramedic, working in city and rural services throughout NZ which include training staff paid and volunteer enables the telling of a story that is both enlightening and solution focused.
Since Grahams suicide in 2001, (life as he knew ended that day) has evolved to become an “expert” in the lived experience of mental illness.
Resilience comes from rebuilding, not once, but twice from inappropriate behavior, including theft, by Accountants and living daily with the effects of PTSD enable a conversation delivered with knowledge and passion.
With roles as a mental health advisor for a District Health Board, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychrists and the Mental Health Commission, Graham has developed an in-depth understanding of the complexities of Mental Health.
Solutions to unravel complexities and provide strategies for early intervention have developed from this experience..
Taking this experience (including owner and developer of a Health and Safety Company) and applying it to the needs of todays workplace enables key areas such as bullying to be managed in a honest and pragmatic way.
Grahams latest development is a nation wide Psychological First Aid program for the general public/workplace , (now available with educational credits) is true testament on how using knowledge and experiences can provide a positive outcome both from a personal point of view, but one that can be shared.
